FCC has a “Code Red” offering appeal that is only activated when an extraordinary large expense must be dealt with that affects the overall effectiveness of our campus operation.
A Code Red expense of $80,000 must be spent in the next 4 weeks to
(A) upgrade our very inadequate WIFI system that serves FCC’s on campus attendees,
and
(B) replace 20 year old outdated/operationally expensive fluorescent
lighting fixtures with cost saving LED fixtures.
THE PROBLEM: It is normal for FCC to spend a few thousand dollars each year maintaining our WIFI systems. However, with our post-Covid growth that is awesome and such a blessing to witness, comes frustration from many attendees because our outdated WIFI system has limited number of IP addresses available to attendees. Thus, if someone wants to click on QR codes in our campus to get more information about giving, classes, salvation or discipleship opportunities FCC offers, they may not be able to connect with us. This problem is exacerbated because FCC’s location is in a geographical area with spotty and poor cellphone connectivity for Verizon and other carriers. So, our staff texting parents of children in distress during our services, or attendees trying to reach a loved one in another part of the campus by text, phone, or email, can prove quite challenging if no campus WIFI signal is available.
The cost to replace FCC’s WIFI controller and upgrade our system from CAT5 to CAT6 cabling is $60,000.
In addition, many of the fluorescent fixtures installed in our campus 20 years ago are failing. The most cost-effective solution is to replace all of the fixtures with LED fixtures that are much more cost effective to operate and have an estimated 50-year life expectancy. Many of these upgraded lighting fixtures have been replaced in the past few weeks and others will be replaced soon.
The cost is $20,000. It would cost tens of thousands of dollars more for this project, but John Bailey, longtime FCC member, is donating his services to install all of these fixtures. Thanks, John!
